Jammu & Kashmir News : Pulwama Police Inaugurates Grand Women’s Knockout Cricket Tournament Under Civic Action Program

Pulwama, August 27: Promoting women’s participation in sports and providing a vibrant platform for local sporting talent, Pulwama Police today inaugurated a Grand Knockout Cricket Tournament for Women at Niloora Cricket Ground under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026–27. The inaugural ceremony was graced by SSP Pulwama Ms.Tanushree, IPS, along with other senior police officers of the district. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from players, sports enthusiasts and members of the local community.

The tournament features six women’s cricket teams from different parts of Pulwama district, providing an opportunity for talented players to showcase their skills and compete in a healthy and competitive sporting environment. The opening match between Grece 11 Pulwama and The Royal Strikers Pulwama witnessed spirited competition and enthusiastic participation from the players, setting an energetic tone for the tournament. Interacting with the participating players, SSP Pulwama Ms.Tanushree, IPS, appreciated their enthusiasm, confidence and sporting spirit.

She encouraged the players to pursue sports with dedication and discipline, highlighting the important role of sporting activities in fostering teamwork, leadership, confidence, discipline and overall personality development among youth. She further emphasized that initiatives aimed at encouraging women in sports not only help identify and nurture local talent but also contribute towards creating a more confident, empowered and healthy younger generation.The tournament provides women players with a positive and inclusive platform to demonstrate their cricketing abilities, gain competitive experience and pursue their sporting aspirations.

Pulwama Police reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sports, empowering women and strengthening police-public relations through meaningful community-oriented initiatives under the Civic Action Programme.
