Jammu and Kashmir News : Flood victims need immediate relief — not statements, but action

Rajouri, 21 July 2026. District President of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, Syed Manzoor Bukhari, has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of life and property caused by the recent floods in the Pir Panjal region. This devastating calamity has changed the lives of many families and caused widespread damage to property. Bukhari conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the four deceased in Rajouri, as well as to the families who lost their loved ones in the landslides at Marh Bafliaz and Mandi Domaile Dhok in Poonch district. He assured them of his full solidarity in their pain and of immediate support to meet urgent humanitarian needs.
During his visit to the affected areas along with the party team, the district president personally assessed the scale of destruction and termed it a major natural disaster, saying that immediate, systematic, and sustained relief and rehabilitation measures are essential. He appealed to government agencies, civil society, local volunteers, and political organizations to work together without discrimination to ensure prompt rescue, relief, and rehabilitation for the affected families. Manzoor Bukhari strongly condemned any attempt to exploit the tragedy for political gain and stressed that political differences must be set aside at this time in favour of life-saving operations, medical assistance, temporary shelter, and restoration of basic amenities.

He also appreciated the timely and effective leadership of the district and divisional administration, particularly the swift and coordinated rescue and relief operations conducted by the Deputy Commissioner, SSP Rajouri, and the DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, which played a key role in reducing loss of life. Likewise, he praised the dedication and round-the-clock efforts of the officers and staff of the power, water, and municipal departments, who performed commendable services in restoring essential facilities under difficult conditions. In the end, Bukhari appealed to the local people and the victims to support one another in this difficult hour and to follow the instructions of the authorities so that relief work can be carried out swiftly and effectively. He said that the Apni Party will continue to extend full cooperation in rehabilitation and relief efforts and remains committed to providing every possible assistance to the affected families.
