Jammu & Kashmir News : Dr. Ayoub Calls on LG Manoj Sinha, Raises Key Public Issues of Kulgam

Srinagar, July 14 :Prominent Social Activist and President Gandhi King Foundation, J&K , Dr. Mohammad Ayoub Mattoo, accompanied by Vice President Riyaz Ahmad Malik called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, and discussed several important public welfare and developmental issues concerning District Kulgam. During the meeting, Dr. Mattoo submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting the need for the reopening of the Aharbal tourist destination, restoration of the Noorabad–Aharbal Canal, relief measures for fruit growers affected by recent hailstorms, and the development of newly identified tourist destinations in Kulgam and Shopian districts.
He emphasized that reopening Aharbal would revive tourism and create employment opportunities for local youth, while the restoration of the canal was essential for addressing the difficulties faced by residents and farmers in the DH Pora constituency. The delegation also urged the Lieutenant Governor to provide adequate compensation and financial relief, including consideration of KCC loan waivers, for orchardists who suffered heavy losses due to the recent hailstorm.

Dr. Mattoo and Riyaz Ahmad Malik appreciated the administration’s ongoing anti-drug campaign and assured the Foundation’s full support in efforts aimed at eradicating the menace of drug abuse from Jammu & Kashmir. The Lieutenant Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues raised and assured the delegation that the matters would be examined for appropriate action.
Dr. Mohammad Ayoub Mattoo reiterated the Gandhi King Foundation’s commitment towards public welfare and constructive engagement with the administration for addressing issues concerning the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
