Jammu & Kashmir News : Pulwama Police Destroys Large Quantity of Seized Narcotics Under NDPS Act, Reiterates Zero Tolerance Policy Against Drugs

Pulwama, July 09 : In a significant step towards curbing the menace of drug trafficking and substance abuse under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Pulwama Police on Wednesday destroyed a large quantity of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances at the authorized disposal facility of M/S Kashmir Health Care System, Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facility at IGC Lassipora, Pulwama. The destruction process was carried out by the District Level Drug Disposal Committee (DLDDC), Pulwama, in accordance with the provisions of Section 52A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after completion of all required legal formalities and obtaining necessary orders from the competent court. Officials said the entire disposal process was conducted in a secure, transparent and legally compliant manner, ensuring strict adherence to prescribed procedures and safeguards.

The narcotics destroyed included 106.375 kilograms of Ganja, 44.87 kilograms of Poppy Straw, 163 grams of Charas, 772 grams of Heroin, 97 bottles of Codeine syrup, and 271 psychotropic tablets, all of which had been seized in various NDPS cases registered across Pulwama district. Police stated that the destruction of the seized contraband reflects the department’s sustained efforts to eradicate the drug menace and prevent the possibility of misuse of seized substances, while strengthening public confidence in the justice delivery system. Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to a drug-free society, Pulwama Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse and warned that stringent legal action would continue against individuals involved in narcotics-related activities. The police also appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing credible information regarding drug peddling and substance abuse so that the collective goal of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir can be achieved.
