Urs of Hazrat Main Nazam Ud Din (R.A.) Celebrated with Devotion and Unity, Honoring a Saint Who Stood for Faith, Justice, and the Upliftment of the Oppressed
The annual Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Main Nazam Ud Din Qayanvi (R.A.) was celebrated with great religious fervor and spiritual devotion on Monday, 09 June, at the revered shrine in Baba Nagri. The grand occasion witnessed a sea of devotees—lakhs in number—who gathered from all across Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and different parts of India to pay homage and seek blessings.
Baba Nagri came alive with the vibrant atmosphere of faith, love, and unity. Devotees chanted prayers, recited naats, and took part in spiritual gatherings, making the entire region echo with divine energy.

A Great Saint and Social Reformer
Hazrat Main Nazam Ud Din Qayanvi (R.A.) was not only a great spiritual personality but also a powerful representative of the backward and underprivileged sections of society. At a time when India was under British rule and social justice was scarce, Hazrat Sahib raised his voice for the rights of the poor and socially neglected.
He brought attention to the struggles of the common people, compelling the British administration to listen to their grievances. His leadership gave a voice to the voiceless, representing the backward Muslim community in matters of social and economic concern.
Preacher of Morality and Faith
Hazrat Main Nazam Ud Din Qayanvi (R.A.) consistently advised Muslims to stay away from sinful acts and encouraged them to establish regular prayers (namaz) and maintain a strong belief in monotheism (Tawheed). His teachings emphasized purity of heart, devotion to Allah, and moral discipline.
He is remembered as a noble and pure-hearted personality—a true Wali (friend of Allah)—whose life was an example of simplicity, piety, and deep spiritual insight.
A Legacy Honored by His Descendant
During the event, Hazrat’s successor (Sajjadah Nasheen), Main Altaf Ahmed Sahib, delivered an inspiring speech. In his address, he highlighted the immense contributions of Hazrat Main Nazam Ud Din (R.A.), stating:
“He not only guided people on the spiritual path but also worked for the betterment of society. He represented his community with dignity and gave it a new identity and pride. Today, we are proud because of the light he spread in our lives.”
Main Altaf Ahmed emphasized how Hazrat Sahib’s noble deeds brought respect and recognition to the entire community.
A Gathering of Faith and Devotion
The Urs ceremony included special prayers, langar (community meals), and speeches from religious scholars. The local administration ensured excellent arrangements for the large gathering, including proper security, water facilities, and transport management. The celebration stood as a true symbol of unity, peace, and spirituality, drawing people beyond caste, creed, and region.
