Jammu & Kashmir:<\/strong> Mohd Shafi, popularly known as “Babbar Sher,”<\/strong> has appealed to the Central Government to reconsider its 5 August 2019<\/strong> decision and restore Article 370<\/strong> and Article 35A<\/strong>. In his statement, he urged the Government to respect the aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and take constitutional steps toward restoring their rights. He emphasized that the issue should be addressed through the constitutional framework while taking into account the sentiments of the people.<\/p>\n

It is noteworthy that on 5 August 2019<\/strong>, the Government of India revoked the special status of Jammu & Kashmir by rendering most provisions of Article 370 inoperative and reorganizing the former state into Union Territories. The decision has remained a subject of differing political opinions. Mohd Shafi’s remarks represent a political appeal<\/strong>.
